Divorce Advice - reasons for divorce - 9.

Home improvements is a major resource tool to improving the value of your home. However, most home improvements are completed by the enthusiastic DIY husband who never really finishes anything which can lead to divorce. Yet, there are those wives who simply see this lack of ability as a husbands character and although moans about it really quite likes the unfinished door bell or unglazed internal door. For those wives driven to despair on their husbands attempts at home improvement is simple - just call in the experts and pay the price when he is at work. Explain that the only other alternative was divorce and that you have now saved their marriage. This way he will know not to embark on any new home improvement project without the skills and resources to get it finished within a reasonable time period.

Home furnishings are always a topic of debate between married couples. Very rarely do opinions on textiles, colours, themes etc. match between husband and wife. However, most wives do know best when it comes to home furnishings so I would be inclined to run with the winning side on this one. I have witnessed open shouting matches in department stores when both partners are there choosing tiles for the kitchen. Will this situation end up in divorce - NO, never. Yet a quietly obedient housewife pandering to her husbands desire for a minimalist look for the front living rooms stands more chance of unexpectedly turning towards divorce than the shouters? This is because the shouters are actually communicating to reach a level of understanding or compromise where the obedient housewife will eventually snap. Its so great watching couples in home improvement outlets - you get to see all aspects of relationships at these places - just stand, watch and listen in the paint section and you will see what I mean.

Home electrical items is another source of marriage culture worthy of attention. Normally this is where most home electricals are purchased individually by each partner on their own. You will hardly ever see a wife with her husband when he is choosing a new Hi Fi for example and likewise when she is selecting a new hair dryer. These purchases are entirely personal and very rarely would result in dispute leading towards a divorce or separation. It even seems acceptable for couples when out shopping together to actually split up within a department store to view their own preferences for home electricals.
